George W. Jenkins Scholarship
Scholarship Criteria
Residency: Open only to U.S. citizens who are residents of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Tennessee, graduating from a high school within their home state, and enrolling full time at the University of Miami.

Academics: Minimum GPA of 3.75 on a 4.0 scale and a well-rounded college preparatory curriculum.

Personal History: Participation in school or community activities, a strong work ethic, and a history of overcoming significant adversity.

Financial Need: High financial need, as determined through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the CSS/Finacial Aid PROFILE.


How to Apply
Submit both the 2014-2015 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.gov and the CSS/Finacial Aid PROFILE online at profileonline.collegeboard.org by February 1.


The following materials must be submitted to the University of Miami Jenkins Scholarship Committee by December 1.
  • Completed application for Undergraduate Admission, including all required materials (www.miami.edu/apply)
  • George W. Jenkins Scholarship Nomination Form (to be completed by the high school's college counselor/advisor)
  • Essay from the student addressing all of the following points in 500 words or less, with significant emphasis on the third point.
    1. Explain why you wish to attend the University of Miami.
    2. Describe how receiving the George W. Jenkins Scholarship would impact your life.
    3. Describe any special circumstances, specifically any history of overcoming significant adversity.
