Scholarship Criteria
  • Applicant must be a current high school senior graduating from a public, private, parochial high school or home school located in Georgia.
  • Applicant must be accepted by and plan to attend an accredited, non-proprietary, technical, community or four-year college in the fall following his/her graduation.
  • Applicant must have at least a 2.75 grade point average for grades 9-12.
  • Applicant must have financial need.
  • Applicant must demonstrate a commitment to community service, social justice issues and/or leadership qualities.
  • Applicant must submit ACT and/or SAT scores.
In order to be considered for this scholarship, a student must submit the application along with the following supplemental information:
  • An official high school transcript which includes coursework and grades for 9-12 as well as cumulative GPA
  • ACT/SAT score(s) - scores will be accpeted from official high school transcript or copy of student score report
  • Essay typed and double spaced
  • One letter of recommendation (teacher/principal, employment supervisor, community service organization leader, pastor)
  • A copy of page 1 of Student Aid Report (SAR). This SAR is the report received from the U.S. Department of Education after completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Financial aid award letter from the college which the student plans to attend

"La Mujer Universal" Scholarship 2013-2014

Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Be a graduating female with at least one parent of Hispanic or Latino heritage
  • Must matriculate at a U.S. accredited college or university full time during the school year 2014-2015 (regardless of legal status; must prove enrollment if granted the scholarship)
  • GPA 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • Attend a public high school in the Atlanta Metropolitan area (including Gwinnett)
  • Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participating in community service, extracurricular or other related activities
Required Documents: Applicants must submit the following supporting documents:
  • Completed and signed application form by March 28th, 2014
  • Official high school transcript in a sealed envelope
  • One-page letter of recommendation from a school faculty member
  • Copy of SAT or ACT score report
  • Typed 500-1000 words essay
  • Verification of admittance (if available)
Scholarship Terms & Conditions:
  • The Delta Alpha Chapter de Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated at The University of Georgia will recognize only one applicant  as its 2014-2015 "La Mujer Universal" Scholarship recipient and will award a scholarship in the amount of $500. The recipient must enroll in a two or four-year accredited college or university or a vocational/technical school for the 2014-2015 academic year. Scholarship applications must be completed with all the required documents and must be postmarked on or before the deadline of March 28th, 2014. Incomplete applications will not be accepted or considered. The recipient will also be recognized at an area banquet which will take place May 17th, 2014 in the Atlanta area. Further details will be given to the recipient.

Univision 34 "LIGA DE CAMPEONES" Scholarship

This scholarhsip is designed to motivate Latino youth  in the Atlanta area to pursue  higher education.
 
ELIGIBILITY: The scholarship is open to students who meet the following criteria:
  1. Reside in the metro Atlanta area and surrounding counties that receive the Univision 34 signal
  2. Are enrolled as a 12th grade student with sufficient credits to graduate in the Spring term of 2014
  3. Are bilingual (Spanish/English)
  4. Have a Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher based on a 4.0 scale
  5. Are of Hispanic descent (defined as persons descended from Central America (excluding Belize), Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, South America (excluding Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana) or other Spanish speaking countries)
  6. Are not employees or agents, and are not immediate family of and do not reside in the same household of, employees or agents of (a) Univision, (b) Plaza Fiesta, (c) BrandsMart USA and (d) any participating sponsors or their respective parents or affiliates; and (e) persons who are engaged in the development, production, distribution of materials, or drawing of scholarship recipients for this scholarship.


HOW TO APPLY: A student may nominate him/herself. Teachers or counselors may also nominate a student. The application package must contain:
  1. One (1) copy of a school-certified cumulative report card for the student
  2. A complete and legible Scholarship Application
  3. Copy of these Rules signed by the student and his/her parent (if the student is a minor)
  4. One (1) photograph of the student
  5. One (1) Student Essay. The essay must be prepared by the Student. The essay must be typewritten and double spaced on one 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper and explain educational and professional goals of the student, community outreach efforts and/or any personal achievement the student has reached. Student may include any athletic goals and successes.
  6. One (1) Teacher Nomination. The nomination must be prepared by a Teacher or Counselor. The nomination must be typewritten and double spaced on one 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper and explain why he/she is nominating the student.

Microsoft DisAbility Scholarship

The amount of this non-renewable scholarship to be awarded is $5,000, which is paid through the Seattle Foundation on behalf of the DisAbility Employee Resource Group (ERG) at Microsoft to the recipient's school's Financial Office.

All candidates must be high school students living with a disability who plan to attend a 2 to 4 year University or College program, maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA or equivalent and have declared a major from the approved list (see scholarship guidelines on application).
Requirements
To be considered for the Microsoft DisAbility Scholarship, you must:
To apply for the Microsoft Disability Scholarship, the student must meet the following guidelines:
  1. Be a current high school senior living with a disability (as defined by WHO), whether that be visual, hearing, mobility, cognitive or speech.
  2. Plan to attend an undergraduate program in a 2 or 4-year University/College or Technical College in the fall of the academic year following high-school graduation. Schools must be in the USA or have a USA-Affiliate for financial transactions (contact Seattle Foundation to verify non-USA school's eligibility).
  3. Declare a major in engineering, computer science, computer information systems, legal or in business that are approved (ie. paralegal, pre-law, finance, business administration, or marketing).
  4. Demonstrate a passion for technology.
  5. Demonstrate leadership at school and/or in the community.
  6. Have a high school cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

National Hook-Up of Black Women, Inc.

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants for NHBW, Inc. Atlanta-Metro Scholarship must:
  • Enter an accredited college or university as a freshman, sophomore, junior, senior or working adult.
  • Have accumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or better from your previous or present institution.
  • Be involved in school and community activities.
  • Demonstrate a mastery of written communication skills in a 300 to 500 word essay.
  • Present auditory skills before the local chapter.
APPLICATION PROCESS
  • Complete application and return to the Scholarship Committee.
  • Application must be accompanied by two current letters of recommendation (please ask writer to be specific) and written by a school and a community representative.
  • Letters from supervisors and/or copies of certificates of participation from organizations where you performed your community service within the last twelve to eighteen months. (Applicant must have verified volunteer hours) Please be specific about your duties.
  • Have the last school you attended submit an official transcript to the address below.
  • Application must be accompanied by an essay that adheres to the following standards:

New National Scholarship Program for undocumented DREAMer students

This new program has full scholarships that are currently available and the deadline for the application this year is March 31. All the information about the program can be foubd at the website for the program: www.thedream.us

Students will be prompted in the applicaton to reveal that they are mobile migrant farmworker students, since these students are one of the many groups to which the program is targeted. The Committee reviewing the essays is one including many well-known immigrant advocates in the Washington, DC area-- folks who are sympathetic to and undertsanding of the plight of immigrant and of migrant students.
