RKL Education Foundation Scholarships

The RKL Education Foundation, Inc. is offering scholarships to deserving male minority college-bound high school seniors, who live in Gwinnett County.

The top two candidates will receive either the Brother Earnest Gibson Memorial Scholarship, which is worth $1,000, or the RKL Education Foundation Scholarship, which is worth $500. In order to receive a scholarship applicants must be attending a four-year college or university by fall of 2014.

All applications should be postmarked on or before March 21, 2014 and should include the following:
  • A 2-3 page, double-spaced essay that describes the reasons for your interests, discusses your childhood, and how your interests were shaped by your upbringing
  • A photo of the applicant (headshot only)
  • Two letters of recommendation (at least one from a current teacher)
  • An official transcript
  • Properly completed application
  • A personal statement in which you include any financial information you feel the committee could use in determining your financial need.
Five finalists will be selected for interviews. The interviews are scheduled to take place during the week of April 26, 2014 (subject to change). Once the interviews are complete, the scholarship recipients will be notified within ten days of the last scheduled interview.

Balanced Man Scholarship

The Georgia Delta Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity will be sponsoring the Balanced Man Scholarship. This award will be given to four young men, who will be entering the University of Georgia as freshmen in the fall of 2013. The award is worth $1,500.

Applicants must be entering the University of Georgia as freshmen, but they are NOT required to join Sigma Phi Epsilon.

Recipients of this award will be notified by no later than May 31, 2013.

Rogers Community Volunteer Scholarship

The Rogers Community Volunteer Scholarship is a $500 award that will be given to a student who has dedicated a great deal of their time doing volunteer work, within the past year.

In order to be eligible students must:
  • Be attending school on a full-time basis during the fall of 2013 and enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at any level
  • Have completed a minimum of 10 hours of non-paid, volunteer service during the last 12 months
  • Have maintained a GPA of at least 2.5

The LPE Scholarship is a $1,000 award.

  • Be a current high school senior or a freshman or sophmore in a college/university

  • Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher

Sedary & Associates Scholarship Program

Sedary & Associates is awarding a $500 scholarship to one eligible applicant.

Applicants must:
  • Be between the ages of 16-22 on the day that the application is due
  • Be enrolled in a college, university, trade, or technical school by no later than Fall 2013
  • Submit an essay
  • Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher

The recipient of this award will receive $500. There are only two awards available.

  • Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher

LM Scholarship Program

Leavitt Machinery is awarding a $1,000 scholarship to a deserving student.

In order to recieve this award applicants should:
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Plan to enroll in a degree program that is at least 2 years of length or greater by September

Scholarship by Design Award

The Scholarship by Design Award is a $500 award that will be given to innovative students. There is only one award available and it is open to all high school seniors or college undergraduate students.

The winner of this scholarship will be someone who can come up with a unique Scholarship Program idea.
The only criteria is that the concept must be completely original and it has to be interesting.

Duluth High School PTSA 2012-2013 Scholarship

The Duluth High School PTSA is awarding a $1,000 scholarship to one female and one male student.
This award will be given to students who have successfully met graduation requirements and will be attending an accredited two or four-year college or university.

In order to be eligible students must:
  • Be a 2013 Duluth High School graduating student
  • A current member of the PTSA (if not a member, students can purchase a membership at the front office for $5)
  • Have at least one parent who is a member of the PTSA (if not a member, parents can purchase a membership at the front office for $10)
  • Have a 3.0 GPA
  • Plan on attending a 2-year or 4-year accredited college or university
  • Have a satisfactory scholastic record
  • Have NO disciplinary infractions on file this year
Completed applications should be turned in at the Main Office and should include:
  • Photo copy of  student's 2012-2013 PTSA membership card
  • Photo copy of parent's 2012-2013 PTSA membership card
  • High School Transcript and SAT/ACT scores
  • Letter of recommendation from a Duluth High School teacher who has taught during the 2012-2013 school year.
  • A 2 page, 12 pt. Times New Roman essay that discusses plans in college, why you should recieve the award, the most meaningful achievement/accomplishment and how it relates to your field of study, and state any special person or family circumstances affecting your need for financial assistance. DO NOT PUT YOUR NAME ANYWHERE ON THE ESSAY.
