Gwinnett County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Scholarship

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements:

All African-American senior young women and men who attend a high school in Gwinnett County, except Centerville, Snellville and Loganville are eligible to apply.

  • Application Requirements:
o   A completed, signed and dated application.  The application must be typed or legibly printed in blue or black ink.
o   Type-written essays on the topics listed on the Essay Instruction sheet.
o   Three (3) letters of recommendation from the following:
o   2 Core Academic Teachers (e.g. Math, Science, Language Arts, Foreign Language and Social Studies)
o   1 Community Service Leader
o   A copy of an official high school transcript

  • Completed application, essay response, letters of recommendation and official transcript must be mailed together in the same envelope and postmarked by February 15, 2016.

All completed applications will be reviewed and scored by the Scholarship Committee.  The top scoring applicants will be granted an interview and required to submit a sixty second video to determine scholarship recipients.  All scholarship recipients will be notified no later than March 15, 2016.

The Champion Firm, P.C. Georgia Future Champions Scholarship

This scholarship is open to any high school senior or college student in Georgia. He or she must be enrolled at a two-year to five-year institution for the 2016 school year. A minimum GPA is not required. Read the Instructions and Terms and Conditions for more eligibility information.
To apply, create a short (30-120 second) video telling us about how you plan to become the champion at whatever you do or plan to do. Also, tell us how this scholarship will help you reach your goals! Upload your video to YouTube.

Bethel University Hendrix Scholarship

 Am I eligible for this scholarship?

In order to be considered for the Hendrix Competition, you must be a high school senior with at least a 3.25 GPA and a 23/*1050 or above ACT/SAT score. The winner and runner up must maintain a 3.6 GPA to renew the scholarship each year.

*The 1050 SAT score is a combination of Critical Reading and Math only.

 How do I enter the competition?

In order to be considered for the Hendrix Competition, the following is required:
1.      Apply for admission
2.      Apply for competition
3.      Submit official 7th semester transcript
4.      Submit official ACT or SAT scores.

*Letters of recommendation may be requested.

 When is the deadline to apply?

The competition will be held February 19 and 20, 2016. The deadline for applications will be February 12,  2016.  Also, don’t forget to forward transcripts, test scores and recommendations by this date.

Solution Reach Scholarship

$2,000- 2 Awards

To be eligible:

  1. High school graduates with a GPA of 3.2 or higher and already accepted at an accredited college/university may apply.

  3. Any undergraduate student currently enrolled in an accredited US college or university with a minimum of 9 credits and a GPA of 3.0 may apply.

OCA Scholarship

OCA-Georgia is a national non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the social, political, and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans in the United States. They will award two $1000 scholarships to qualifying seniors at their Lunar New Year Banquet on Feb. 13, 2016.

The scholarships will be awarded to applicants with LOW INCOME STATUS. The application will also be evaluated on their scholastic and personal achievements. Additional qualifications:

  1. Must be a full-time graduating high school senior attending within the State of Georgia in good academic standing (minimum GPA 3.0 on 4-point scale) of any ethnic or cultural background, who plans to attend higher education.
  2. Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident.

Abbott and Fenner Scholarship

Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants will be awarding up to $1,000 in scholarship money. All students who are currently registered in any accredited post secondary institution are eligible.  Students will submit an essay with the following criteria:

  • Should be between 500 and 1000 words in length.
  • Topic: Describe your educational career and life goals.  Explain your plan for achieving these goals.  Include your degree/major, why you selected it, and how this degree/major will help you achieve your goals.

2016 MARC Scholarship

The Metro Atlanta Relocation Council Scholarship

Eligibility

  • Student must have relocated more than 50 miles sometime between grades 9 and 12 and changed schools due to their family's relocation.
  • Residence Eligibility: A senior attending a private or public school in any city or county district within the 15-County Greater Atlanta area.
  • Minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 (or equivalent achievement on a different scale).  
  • Academic performance, extra-curricular activities, and a response to an essay (addressing the way they handled challenges associated with relocating to a new area and high school) will all be taken into consideration.

Peach State Federal Credit Union Legacy Student Scholarship

Eligibility

  • Must be a graduated high school senior who plans to attend college to pursue a degree in education and then return to Georgia to teach
  • Send in a copy of your SAT or ACT scores
  • Send in a copy if your transcript indication your high school GPA
  • Write a two page, double-spaced, typed essay expressing your desire to be a teacher and why.  Indicate the field in which you wish to teach in the public schools.  Describe any experiences you have had which have helped shape your decision to pursue a career in the field of education. 
  • Two letters of reference; one from a teacher and one from an administrator or counselor in your current high school who can attest to your potential as a prospective education major.
