Angelica y Bo Young Scholarship Application

-For Senior High-School Students through the Latino Community Fund (LCF Georgia)

These need-based scholarships are funded by the family of Angelica and Bo Young as part of their commitment to build a legacy of strong, educated and caring Latinx students in Georgia.

The Angelica and Bo Young Scholarships are awarded to senior high-school students of Latin American descent with a commitment to community engagement and work.

Scholarships are need-based $1,000 awards that can be used for college or technical school tuition, basic graduation regalia, or as seed capital for entrepreneurship.

Students that receive the award are required to submit a message via email and a picture notifying us how to funds were used.

Applications are opened until September 15th.

TERMS, GUIDELINES, and TIMELINE
-Please fill in all the fields. Uncompleted applications will not be considered.
-Decisions are made by the Young Family in private.
-Applications close on September 15 at noon ET.
-Awards will be announced during Hispanic Heritage Month via social media and directly to the individual submitting the application via email.
-Checks are issued in October to the recipient as indicated in the application
-Grantees will be selected on a fair and nondiscriminatory basis and through a review process that verifies qualifications to carry out the purposes of the grant.

RESTRICTIONS: Applicants should not have a criminal record.

The Gates Scholarship

To apply, students must be:


  • A high school senior
  • From at least one of the following ethnicity: African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian, Pacific Islander American, and/or Hispanic American
  • Pell-eligible
  • A US citizen, national, or permanent resident
  • In good academic standing with a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
Additionally, a student must plan to enroll full-time, in a four-year degree program, at a US accredited, not-for-profit, private, or public college or university.

Women in Technology Scholarship StudySoup

Scholarship Details:
"As a company driven to help students succeed, we know that college is an important step along many career paths, but it can be expensive. Student can upload note to StudySoup to lighten their financial burden. However, we still felt like we could do more to give back to the future leaders of the world. We also believe that it is our responsibility to foster innovation in the field of technology and help underrepresented students break down barriers. The QuestBridge National College Match helps high-acheiving, low income students gain admission and full four year scholarships to some of the nations' best colleges.

2018-2019 GCEL, Inc. Scholarships

Scholarships Value: Five (5) Scholarships valued at $2,000 each
Application Deadline: November 15, 2018


Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria for consideration of the GCEL, Inc. Scholarship:

  • Submit verification of enrollment as a senior in a Georgia Title I High School for the 2018-2019 school year by a school official,
  • Submit official high school transcript to verify grade point average of 2.5 or higher in a sealed envelope,
  • Submit one letter of recommendation from a school official,
  • Submit verification of SAT or ACT scores,
  • Submit essay stating applicant's future goals,
  • Submit completed GCEL, Inc. scholarship package, and
  • Submit proof of acceptance of enrollment to a college, university, or technical school no later than September 30, 2019
The scholarships will be awarded at the GCEL 34th Annual Conference, February 13, 2019 in Savannah, Georgia.

About The Program
Since 1994, Wendy's Restaurants have teamed up with the Heisman Memorial Trophy Committee to create the Wendy's High School Heisman Program. The program honors male and female high school seniors who excel in academics, athletics, and student leadership, and gives them an opportunity to earn a scholarship. Criteria for Application
  • Students whose senior year of high school is the 2018-2019 academic year, graduating with the class of 2019.
  • Students who have at least a "B" average (3.0 GPA) during grades 9,10, and 11.
  • Students who participate in at least one of 47 Wendy's High School Heisman recognized sports recognized by the International Olympic Committee or the National Federation of State High School Associations.
  • Students who have participated in volunteer service, community involvement, or leadership within his/her school or community.

The Application Process
  1. A student may now begin the application process by clicking Apply Now in the header of the website to be redirected to the application website.
  2. Students will enter their email address and be promoted to provide some basic account information and create a username and password for their application.
  3. If deemed eligible, students should then select "Begin Application" to complete the rest of the student profile section.
  4. Once a complete profile is created, the student's unique application ID will appear at the top of his/her application by their name. It is important to retain this number for prospective customer service inquiries. 
  5. Eligible students may then continue to fill out the application. The application is scored by Scholarship America to determine school winners through national finalists. National winners are selected by a committee who reviews the national finalist applications.
  6. Students may navigate the various sections of the application using tabs located at the top of the application after the student profile is created. If the student misses a required section, he/she will receive an error message and will not be able to submit their application until the required information is entered.
  7. Students must provide an accurate email address of the school official who will login to review the application and its contents, and confirms its accuracy. This school official cannot be related nor parent/guardian of the student.
  8. Students may need to login to their accounts as often as needed prior to the student application deadline, or until their application has been submitted. Students will need to retain their username and password again.

Deadlines
  • We encourage students to submit their application as early as possible to allow time for the school official to review it for accuracy.
  • Students must submit their application by October 17, 2018 at 3 p.m./ 6 p.m. ET.
  • The application must be reviewed and submitted by the school official lsited in the application by October 19, 2018 at 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m.
Important Reminders
  • Students must retain their username and password until October.
  • Students and reviewers are encouraged to log out whenever they leave the computer.
  • Be assured: students and reviewers personal, private information will not be shared with anyone outside of the Wendy's High School Heisman and selection committee.
  • Security concerns may prevent the use of bookmarks to return to pages within the application. It is recommended however, that students and reviewers bookmark the main website.
  • One of the common oversights is failure to submit prior to the deadline. The student's application must be submitted NO LATER THAN October 17, 2018 at 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. ET.
  • Reviewers must submit their review NO LATER THAN October 19, 2018 at 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m ET in order for applications to be considered.
