    • must be accepted to any 2 or 4 year college

Senator David Shafer Scholarship Essay Contest


  • Essay contest that encourages students to research and think critically about character traits such as courage, honesty, fairness, respect, and kindness shown by specific individuals in American History. 
  • Requires an essay in 800 or less words about a person in American History who exemplified one or more of these character traits. 
  • Must submit the essay by February 27, 2015.

    • 1st- $1,500, an official Georgia State Senate Resolution acknowledgement of achievement, and lunch with the Senator.
    • 2nd- $750 and lunch with the Senator. 
    • 3rd- $250 and lunch with the Senator.

Air Force ROTC Scholarship


  • Air Force ROTC offer high school students graduates 3 or 4 year scholarships through its High School Scholarship Program (HSSP). 
    • Type- pays full college tuition, most fees and a book allowance.  Mostly in in technical fields as needed by the Air Force (careers with a scientific base such as engineering, chemistry, and meteorology)
    • Type 2-Pays college tuition and most fees up to $18,000 and a book allowance.  If a student attends a institution where the tuition exceeds 18,000 per year then he/she pays the difference
    • Type 7-Pays college tuition up to the equivalent of a public school's in-state rate and a book allowance.  The student can convert the four year type 7 scholarship to a three year type 2 scholarship. 
    • Note: Cannot activate a type 7 scholarship at a non-qualifying school and pay the difference.
  • All contracted cadets receive a month living stipend during the academic year.  Currently. the monthly stipend is $300 for freshmen, $350 for sophomores, $450 for juniors and $ 500 for seniors.  
    • Note:  Contracted cadets is a cadet who has signed a contract with the AFROTC.  Scholarship cadets contract upon activating their scholarships.  Non-scholarship cadets must be contracted in order to enter the AS300 level of ROTC.
  • Eligibility:
    • SAT composite score of 1180 ( math and critical reading only) or ACT composite score of 26 and have 3.0 or higher GPA.
    • Be a United States Citizen or obtain citizenship first term of your freshman year or first term of your sophomore.  Also if you receive a scholarship with dual citizenship, cannot activate scholarship until you renounce non-US citizenship.
    • Graduate from high school or have equivalent certificate
    • Be 17 prior to activation of scholarship.  
    • Be under 31 as of December 3 year you will be commissioned.
    • Cannot be enrolled full time at a college or university,except joint high.college programs.
    • If sole provider for another person (single parent/guardian) contact nearest Air Force ROTC detachment admissions representative for dependent care plan information.
  • Academic Majors
    • Air Force most desired majors are electrical engineering, computer engineering, meteorology, nuclear physics and nuclear engineering.  Applicant s with these majors might receive priority in scholarship  selection process.
    • Air Force encourages applicants to pursue technical and foreign language majors critical for to Air Force's mission.
  • Applicants Deadlines:  Submit online application December 1, 2015. 
    • After you complete the online application, you will receive a confirmation email with information on how to download, electronically complete and submit/upload additional forms.  Deadline to upload these is January 12.

  • Offers two $1,000 scholarships to one male student and one female student.
  • Eligibility:
    • Graduating in 2015
    • Current member of PTSA
    • Has a parent who is a member of the PTSA
    • 3.0 GPA or higher
    • Attending a 2 or 4 year college
    • Satisfactory scholastic record
    • No disciplinary infractions on file this year

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority ASCEND Program (Not a scholarship)


  • Program designed to motivate, engage, and assist high school students in reaching their maximum potential.
  • Focuses on Achievement, Self Awareness, Communication, Engagement, Networking, and Developmental Skills
  • Open to male and female students in grades 9-12 who maintain at lease a C average

2015 Tom Joyner Foundation Full-Ride Scholarship Application.



  • The Tom Joyner Foundation annoucned the 'Full Ride' scholarship program that will cover the expenses of one student planning to attend a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in the fall of 2015.  
  • It is full tuition up to 10 semesters to cover on campus room and board and books.  Students must meet the required academic standards each semester to renew the funds each year.   
  • Graduating high school seniors can apply at Tom Joyner Foundation website at http://www.tomjoynerfoundation.org to complete the application.  Students must have their schools mail their transcripts and recommendation to the Foundation at P.O Box 630945, Irving, TX 75063-0495.
  • To be eligible students must meet the following criteria:
    • A United States Citizens
    • Current high school seniors attending school in the United States (applicants must be anticipating completion of high school degree in the spring of 2015).
    • Minimum high school grade point average of 3.50 ( on a 4.0 grade scale excluding home school studies) and Minimum SAT score of 2100 (combined math essay and verbal score) of ACT score of 30
    • Applicants must apply and be accepted to an HBCU by July 1, 2015.
    • Applicants must have demonstrated leadership abilites through particiption in community service, extracurricular, or other activities.
  • The application must be postmarked no later than January 16, 2015. Interviews will occur in April 2015.

Area II Gwinnett Council Scholarship


  • Awards 8 $750 scholarships to students in local Gwinnett County High Schools
  • Eligibility
    • Graduating senior and PTSA member of an Area II school 
    • interested in attending an accredited 4 year or 2 year college 
    • Has a satisfactory scholastic record. 
    • Has exhibited good character

Joseph P. Crawford Memorial Scholarship


  • In memory of Joseph P. Crawford, the NAIFA-Georgia Board of Directors are offering a scholarship to students demonstrating academic performance and financial need. They cannot be receiving any other scholarship.

    • GA resident
    • Attends GA high school
    • Accepted in an accredited college
    • Minimum 3.5 GPA
    • Top 10% of class
    • Family income no more than 3 times the poverty level

Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Comission

  • In an attempt to promote and fund environmental awareness, the Gwinnett County soil and Water Conservation District are offering one $2,000 and two $1,000 scholarships to students who intend to study environmental sciences.
  • Application requires a 600-800 word essay (double spaced) on how your continued college education in the areas of soil and water conservation will further the GCSWC mission.
