Dear Applicant:

Let Us Make Man- The Gathering to Reclaim Black Manhood is commuted to the development of America's youth. Organized in 2006 by Derrick Boatman and a commuted cadre of co,,unity leaders, the conference has geld several events in the metro Atlanta area in order to raise the consciousness of young black males. This year, we have developed two scholarships in honor of the life of Muhammad Rahim Jihad, the late son of Lat Us Make Man organizer, A. B. Jihad.Muhammad's untimely transition was at age 17. He tragically left this world a few short years ago and his father wishes to honor his memory by aiding in the education of a young man that could be at a crossroads in life. It is brother A. B. Jihad's wish to give a small push to a young male who may be in need of a helping hand. We understand that this memorial fund of a minimum of $1,000 could help prevent a young man from making a wrong turn in life. Our mission and focus is to help develop young Black males into models of strong manhood. In addition to engaging in mentoring programs, we also understand the importance of assisting talented young Black males in pursuit of higher education. The application process is open to African American males who are high school Seniors and have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better. Brother A.B. Jihad and sister Sakinah Jihad would like to remember their son in life by living out your dreams through education.

Application Package Check List

The application package must be completed in its entirety to be considered for the scholarship. Applications must be typed or written legibly. Before submitting your application, be sure each of the following 5 items are included

1. One completed APPLICATION PACKAGE;
2. one CHARACTER REFERENCE LETTER ( Not related to Applicant)
3. One official LETTER of ENROLLMENT/SEALED TRANSCRIPT from your high school for fall of 2017 or most recently completed semester
4. One " 100 " word or less BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
5. One typed, double spaced, 12- point font " 1000 " word essay.
