We encourage all students looking to apply for scholarships to career and technical colleges to take a few minutes to take the steps laid out below.
After you read these steps, take a look at the list of things you can do next while your application is processing.
Follow These Steps:
Step 1- Create your profile on our portal page, www.iafportal.org (https://www.iafportal.org/signup). or download our Imagine American mobile app! Create a login and profile.

Step 2- Just follow the prompts that walk you through the steps
Step 3- Enter the information to complete you profile- this is a necessary step before you apply for your scholarship to trade schools and career colleges
Step 4- Once you have created your account you will be prompted via a pop up to click on "apply for scholarships" in the navigation menu
Step 5- under "Type" select "HS" if you are a graduating high school in this calendar year. Select "ASEP" if you are an adult student 19 years of age or older,. if you are a military (https://www.imagine-america.org/grantsformilitary/) student select "MAP"
Step 6- Find your school on our alphabetical list, click on your campus, review your information and submit your application
Step 7- Watch the Financial Planning Mad Simple (FPMS) video. This is a required step . So pop some popcorn and kick back. we want to make sure you make smart financial choices to reduce the risk of stress while you train for the job you want
HS- Step 8- in the case of a HS applicant - your application will be sent to your guidance counselor for review. Once they approve your application, your app is then sent to the college for review.
ASEP / MAP- Step 8- after completing your application it will the be sent to the college for their review.
