The David Skinner/Georgia Development Authority 2014 Scholarship

Sponsor: Georgia Development Authority
Purpose:
  • To recognize and assist deserving and outstanding young people who are pusuing a college degree in agriculture or a related field.
  • To promote leadership development within the agricultural sector.
  • To encourage students to appreciate the values and opportunities of rural life.
Award: Scholarships will be awarded to the top students who confirm they are majoring in agriculture or a related field.

Scholarships in the amount of $1,500.00 will be awarded annually to deserving Georgia rural students enrolled in the study of Agriculture or an Agriculture related field. Consideration for the scholarship will be based "80%" on financial need.

Eligibility:
  • The applicant must be a high school senior or not beyond the freshman year in college. He/She must have successfully passed their high school academic requirements having SAT scores qualifying their admission to an accredited Georgia college. Applicants must be Georgia residents and live in a rural county.
  • Each applicant must supply a copy of his/her high school transcripts and SAT scores and, if applicable, college grades and credits, and a copy of their completed Federal Student Aid Form. Applications received without a copy of the completed FSA Form (do not send your SAR) will be disqualified. Do not send your original application here. We will not forward these forms and that could result in your receiving NO Federal Student Aid.
  • It will be the applicant's responsibility to see that the application is fully completed and that all information submitted is totally truthful. Any part of the application not completed will disqualify that applicant.
  • Each application must be accompanied by three letters of recommendation: One from the applicant's County Extension Agent or Vocational Education teacher; one from a high school/college teacher; and one from a community leader other than a family member.
  • A formal school photo should be attached to the application.
  • Deadline for entering will be strictly adhered to.
