Nominations Now Open For 2013 Local Legends Scholarship
Deadline: October 18, 2013
Qualifications:
- Female High School Senior students ONLY
- Must attend an accredited school in Georgia
- Must be nominated by a school administrator, teacher or faculty member
- 3.0 GPA or higher
- Exemplifies school values
- Exemplifies leadership in her school and community
Requirements:
- Completed application
- Current student transcript
- Two (2) recommendation letters from school officials
- One (1) personal/community based reference letter
Description:
The Local Legend Scholarship honors outstanding female students who have achieved academic success while making significant contributions in her community. Each student will receive a $1,000 college scholarship to help meet the challenge of according a quality post-secondary education that is vital to her future earning potential.
Additionally, each student learns the etiquette of fine dining, receives the opportunity to network and converse in an intimate setting and takes away life lessons and tips for success from notable "Legends" such as Civil Rights Icon Xernona Clayton, Author Pearl Cleage, Actress Jasmine Guy, Delta Airlines' Scarlett Pressley-Brown, Georgia Pacific's Charmaine Ward, Judge Penney Brown-Reynolds, Mrs. Carolyn Young, and News Anchor Monica Pearson.
