The Rensselaer Medal

The Rensselaer Medal is awarded by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and is given to motivated high school juniors who excel in mathematics and science.

The scholarship is worth $15,000 per year, which is guranteed for four years for each medalist that is accepted and chooses to study at Rensselaer. For those who wish to parrticipate in the B.Arch. program the scholarship is guranteed for five years.

Criteria for medalist selection is as follows:
  • Ranked in the top 10% of the junior class
  • Demonstrate potential for success in a challenging academic setting
  • Excel in advanced math and science courses (accepted students should have completed chemistry, physics, and a minimum of four years of mathematics through pre-calculus)
  • Exhibit significant involvement in extracurricular activities

Scholars are selected by their school's faculty and staff. Nominee selections are due by May 1, 2014 so if you're interested make sure to see your guidance counselor as soon as possible.
