GCPS Foundation Scholarship Catalogue

Apply for a Scholarship / GCPS Foundation Common Scholarship Application

The Gwinnett County Public Schools Foundation scholarship process begins in January. Please check the website to download the most current common scholarship application.

The GCPS Foundation proudly awarded over $120,000 in student scholarships to graduating seniors for 2011-12.  Scholarships ranged in value from $500-$6,000.  We will continue to add to the GCPS Foundation Catalogue online as scholarships become available.

Scholarship checks will be mailed directly to colleges by July 2013. Ensure timely delivery of funds by alerting the foundation office of the correct address for financial aid and your student ID# assigned upon official acceptance to a college or university.  



1.      Alton C. Crews Educator Scholarships
A one-time award of $2500 sponsored by Gwinnett Federal Credit Union to a student who has exhibited good character and leadership skills, and has maintained a 3.0 GPA and has a desire to enter the teaching profession.

Deadline, Friday, February 8, 2013.  Please use the GCPS Foundation common application available October 2012.


2.      J. Alvin Wilbanks Educator Scholarships
A one-time award of $2500 sponsored by Gwinnett Federal Credit Union to a student who has exhibited good character and leadership skills, and has maintained a 3.0 GPA and has a desire to enter the teaching profession.

Deadline, Friday, February 8, 2013.  Please use the GCPS Foundation common application available October 2012.


3.      Louise Radloff Scholarship
A one-time award of $2500 sponsored by Gwinnett Federal Credit Union to a student exhibiting good character and having overcome a significant challenge to meet the requirements of graduation. No GPA requirement. The award can be applied to any form of post-secondary study that leads to employment.

4.      J. Floyd and Eunice Brannan Scholarships
A $1000 award to six students’ payable at $1000 each year for 4 years (subject to satisfactory performance and progress). It is awarded to students who will attend a four-year college or university, have a 3.0 GPA or better, have financial need, have a concern for others as demonstrated by significant community service activities throughout high school.  Preference will be given to students at Central Gwinnett HS.  The next granting period will be the school year 2014-2015.


5.      John A. Raghu Music Scholarship
A one-time award of $500 to an Archer High School orchestra member, with preference to bassist, who participates in community service and has a weighted GPA of 3.0 or better. The award recipient is selected by the music program administration of Archer High School. 



6.      United Ebony Society of Gwinnett County, Inc. Robbie Susan Moore Scholarships
A one-time award for college-bound Gwinnett County Public School seniors who are planning to attend a 2-4 year college or university. Two winners will receive $1000 each. Selection is based on participation in a leadership role in community service activities or volunteer work and a commitment to making a difference in the community. To be eligible:
·         GPA minimum 2.7
·         Plan to enroll in fall 2013 as full-time undergraduate at an accredited 2-4 year institution
·         Submission of 300 word essay on a designated topic
·         Provide letter of recommendation from volunteer experience
·         Provide letter of recommendation from school faculty member
Applications will be available on line starting October 15, 2012. 


7.      Robbie Susan Moore Foundation For Education, Inc. Scholarship
A separate award opportunity offered by the Robbie Susan Moore Foundation For Education, Inc. One winner will be chosen to receive a one-time $1,500 award.  To be eligible:
·         Must be a citizen or permanent legal resident of the United States
·         Must have financial need and be able to demonstrate with required documents
·         Anticipate completion of high school diploma or GED at time of application
·         GPA minimum 2.5 on 4 pt scale by end of junior year
·         Plans to attend any type of post-high school education or training, certification, licensing, 2-4 yr trade or technical school, college or university.
·         Demonstrate accomplishments in community service or leadership, and faced a significant roadblock or challenge in accomplishing goals.

8.      Gwinnett Clinic Award for Excellence in Academics
Awarded in the amount of $300 to the valedictorian from each high school in Gwinnett County Public Schools.  No application necessary.  


9.      Reid Mullins Scholarship
A one-time award of $1000 for a Snellville MS graduate attending South Gwinnett High School with plans to attend a four year college. Application forms due to the South Gwinnett High School counseling office.  Deadline, Friday, February 8, 2013. 



10.  Robert L. Campbell Memorial Scholarship  
A one-time award of $1,000 in honor of Robert L. Campbell for graduates of Phoenix High School. 


11.  Dr. Barbara Reed Science Scholarship
A one-time award of $500 to a graduating senior with an interest in a post-secondary science field with an emphasis placed on applicants interested in science education.

12.  Dr. Linda Williams Educational Scholarship
A one-time award in the amount of $500 for a graduating senior from Grayson, Maxwell, or Meadowcreek High School.

13.  Gwinnett Federal Credit Union Student Scholarships
Recognizing the importance of education as a lifelong experience, the Board of Directors of Gwinnett Federal Credit Union is proud to announce that Gwinnett Federal will award 15 $2,000 Career Advancement Scholarships in May 2013. The scholarships honor the founders of Gwinnett Federal and will be awarded to eligible members of our credit union.  Applications will be available on our Web site (www.gwinnettfcu.org) and at all 13 convenient branch locations in January. If you choose to access an application on our Web site, please print it and send to: Scholarship Committee, Gwinnett Federal Credit Union, 175 North Clayton Street, Lawrenceville, Georgia 30046. All applications and supporting documents must be received by the credit union by March 22, 2012.
  
14.  CPACS – Center For Pan Asian Community Services, Inc.
Serving DeKalb/Gwinnett Asian and Pacific Islander American Scholarships
The application form will be available online in October 1, 2012. 
·         Be of Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity as defined by the U.S. Census
·         Be a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the U.S. Citizens of the Freely Associated States may apply
·         Be enrolling in a U.S. accredited college or university as a full-time, degree-seeking student in the upcoming academic year
·         Must apply for federal financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
·         Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale (non-weighted) or have earned a GED
·         APIASF awards range from $2,500 - $10,000
·         Deadline will be Friday, January 11, 2013

15.  *New: King Memorial Mathematics Scholarship
A one-time award of $500 to a GCPS graduating senior with financial need and an interest in a post-secondary mathematics related field.  
·         Must be a citizen or permanent legal resident of the United States
·         Demonstrate financial need
·         GPA minimum 2.7 on 4 pt scale
·         Plans to attend 2-4 yr trade or technical school, college or university.

Scholarship possibilities beyond the GCPS Foundation:

The AT&T Foundation has announced the continuation of their scholarship program with UNCF to provide scholarships for African-American children or step-children of current regular full-time employees of AT&T, Inc. and its U.S. Subsidiaries. Applicants must be a high school senior (planning to enroll in) or an undergraduate student attending any accredited two or four-year college or university. The candidates must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale. The applicants must be 25 years old or younger as of February 15, 2012.
The awards of $2,500 will be granted to recipients attending a four-year college or university while the recipients of a two-year college will receive $1,500. The scholarships will be awarded for the 2012-13 Academic year.
18.  Dell Scholars Program
Application process opens November 2012. Deadline January 2013.

19.  Dr Seuss Scholarship 2013 - Oh the Places You’ll Go
Application Deadline Tentative November 2012 - January 2013
Award Amount $10,000
In 2010 this was a writing scholarship, and in 2011 an art contest, so we will see what the Dr. Seuss scholarship requirements will be in 2012. This is one of the fun but weird unknown scholarships for college, and one of the best scholarships for high school seniors.  https://apps.facebook.com/otpscholarship/rules

20.  National Merit $2500 Scholarships
 One-time, nonrenewable awards of $2,500 made to high school seniors who qualify as Finalists in the annual National Merit Scholarship Program. For more information, please contact National Merit Scholarship Corporation at (847) 866-5100.
