Scholarship opportunities
 
How do I apply for scholarships?
  1. Complete the Application for Admission. Please note that you will not be considered for an invitation to Southern Scholars Showcase, Scholars's Day, or the Southern LEAD Conference until you have been accepted for admission. Apply online at admissions.georgiasouthern.edu.
  2. Read the entire application and complete all of the essays or questions that apply to you and your interests.
  3. The Application for Scholarships and the University Honors Program must be received by November 1, 2013 for students applying to attend Southern  Scholars Showcase and/or be considered for the 1906 Scholarship. Students applying to attend Scholar's Day, the Southern LEAD Conference, and/or applicants to the University Honors Program will need to submit their application by February 1, 2014.
  4. Once your Application for Scholarships and the University Honors Program is received, all of your materials will be reviewed. Invitations to Southern Scholars Showcase, Scholars' Day, or the Southern LEAD Conference will be mailed approximately 3 weeks prior to each event. If you are not selected to interview at an event, you may still be eligible to receive other scholarships.
  5. If invited, RSVP and attend a scholarship event to interview for academic or leadership scholarships. The events will also include opportunities to learn more about Georgia Southern University and interact with faculty, staff, and current students.

Southern Scholars Showcase
-an opportunity to interview for valuable academic scholarships including the 1906 scholars program. Only 160 students will attend this event on December 6 - 7. The deadline is November 1.The requirements are 1300 SAT/29 ACT and strong GPA.
Scholar’s Day
For students interested in competing for academic scholarships and/or entrance into the University Honors Program. The application deadline is February 1, 2014. The requirements are 1200 SAT/27 ACT and a strong GPA. Only 250 students will attend this event on February 28 - March 1, where students will interview for academic scholarships and the University Honors Program awards.

Southern LEAD Conference
For student’s interested in competing for leadership scholarships. The application deadline is February 1, 2014. The requirements are 1100 SAT/24 ACT, and a strong academic record in high school courses. Students should complete the Application for Scholarships, including the Leadership Essay. Only 220 students will attend this event on March 8, where they will interview for the Southern LEAD Scholarship and invitations to the prestigious Southern Leaders Program.
