- Air Force ROTC offer high school students graduates 3 or 4 year scholarships through its High School Scholarship Program (HSSP).
- Type- pays full college tuition, most fees and a book allowance. Mostly in in technical fields as needed by the Air Force (careers with a scientific base such as engineering, chemistry, and meteorology)
- Type 2-Pays college tuition and most fees up to $18,000 and a book allowance. If a student attends a institution where the tuition exceeds 18,000 per year then he/she pays the difference
- Type 7-Pays college tuition up to the equivalent of a public school's in-state rate and a book allowance. The student can convert the four year type 7 scholarship to a three year type 2 scholarship.
- Note: Cannot activate a type 7 scholarship at a non-qualifying school and pay the difference.
- All contracted cadets receive a month living stipend during the academic year. Currently. the monthly stipend is $300 for freshmen, $350 for sophomores, $450 for juniors and $ 500 for seniors.
- Note: Contracted cadets is a cadet who has signed a contract with the AFROTC. Scholarship cadets contract upon activating their scholarships. Non-scholarship cadets must be contracted in order to enter the AS300 level of ROTC.
- Eligibility:
- SAT composite score of 1180 ( math and critical reading only) or ACT composite score of 26 and have 3.0 or higher GPA.
- Be a United States Citizen or obtain citizenship first term of your freshman year or first term of your sophomore. Also if you receive a scholarship with dual citizenship, cannot activate scholarship until you renounce non-US citizenship.
- Graduate from high school or have equivalent certificate
- Be 17 prior to activation of scholarship.
- Be under 31 as of December 3 year you will be commissioned.
- Cannot be enrolled full time at a college or university,except joint high.college programs.
- If sole provider for another person (single parent/guardian) contact nearest Air Force ROTC detachment admissions representative for dependent care plan information.
- Academic Majors
- Air Force most desired majors are electrical engineering, computer engineering, meteorology, nuclear physics and nuclear engineering. Applicant s with these majors might receive priority in scholarship selection process.
- Air Force encourages applicants to pursue technical and foreign language majors critical for to Air Force's mission.
- Applicants Deadlines: Submit online application December 1, 2015.
- After you complete the online application, you will receive a confirmation email with information on how to download, electronically complete and submit/upload additional forms. Deadline to upload these is January 12.
