METP

METP, Mississippi Excellence in Teaching Program, is a a scholarship offer for high school seniors who want to pursue a career as an English or a math teacher. It is offered jointly at Mississippi State University and The University of Mississippi.

METP fellows recieve full tuition, an annual housing allowance, a $6,000 study abroad opportunity, and a tablet computer.

In order for applicants to be eligible they should submit the following:

• A composite ACT score of 28 or a SAT score of 1250
• A GPA of atleast 3.5
• Letters of recommendation
• A 200 word personal statement
• An essay of 500 to 700 words in length
• High school transcripts

The scholarship committee will begin reviewing applications March 15, so apply as soon as possible.
All METP fellows make a five-year commitment to teach in a Mississippi public school following graduation.
