Your complete scholarship application will be automatically considered by the University of the Aftermarket Foundation (UAF). In addition, it will also be considered by several other organizations if you meet their scholarship requirements. So, a complete application may give you the opportunity to compete for several different scholarship awards. Please see the website for specific requirements for each organization's awards. Words of Comfort Ministries, Inc Scholarship

Words of Comfort Ministries, Inc. is a 501(c) non-profit organization. Through its scholarship fund, WOC provides financial assistance to an outstanding male or female African American student residing in the United States who plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university of their choice within the US. In addition to excelling in the classroom, these individuals are leaders in the community who exemplify the values of volunteerism and service.

WOC recognizes the importance of education in the lives of children and the commitment to serve those less fortunate. We are delighted to provide this year's scholarships in their amount of $1,000 to five high school seniors who reflect these same high standards and has at least a 2.5 GPA. As we give to promote these individual's educational opportunities, we hope that he/she will fit to lead his/her life in a way that will eventually give something positive back to the community.

The Elizabeth Kiss Scholarship

President Elizabeth Kiss welcomes the class of 2021 to Agnes Scott College.

The Elizabeth Kiss Trailblazer Scholarship, named in honor of Agnes Scott’s eighth president Dr. Elizabeth Kiss (pronounced “quiche”), is our promise to the young women of today who exemplify the qualities inherent in tomorrow’s leaders.

For more than 125 years, Agnes Scott has been dedicated to providing a transformative educational experience to women at an affordable cost, which is why we have long been recognized as a Best Value College. The Trailblazer Scholarship is a continuation of our commitment to this cause.

With Agnes Scott College’s Elizabeth Kiss Trailblazer Scholarship, admitted students to the college who meet certain qualifications are eligible for a $25,000 merit-based scholarship, renewable for up to four years of their undergraduate education.

To qualify, applicants need only apply to Agnes Scott College and have one of the following at the time of applying:

• A 3.75 GPA (as reported by their high school)
• A 1250 SAT score OR
• A 26 ACT score

All application materials should be submitted before Jan. 15, the Early Action II deadline. Applicants who qualify for the Trailblazer Scholarship will be notified at the time of admission.

The Peachtree Corners Business Association (PCBA) is excited to announce our sixth annual scholarship opportunity for local graduating high school Seniors who reside in Peachtree Corners, or attend Norcross High School, Wesleyan High School, Paul Duke Stem High School, or Duluth High School, or are a Child of a PCBA Member (in good standing), who demonstrate community spirit and initiative. 

The PCBA will award two $1,000 scholarships to deserving graduating high school seniors.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2018- 2019 Student Scholarship Program.

Students are invited to apply no later than March 27th, 2019.

Qualifications Include:
Currently, both scholarships will be awarded to graduating Seniors who meet at least one of the following criteria:

______ Resident of Peachtree Corners
______ Senior at Norcross HS, Wesleyan HS, Paul Duke Stem HS, or Duluth HS
______ Child of PCBA Member (in good standing)

Applications must include the application form, a copy of the student's sealed, or official transcript showing cumulative GPA, an essay of 500 words or less describing why you are the best candidate for the scholarship and a separate page listing any of the following the student has been associated with, and give a brief description of your involvement: 

1. School Organization Affiliation
2. Sports Affiliation
3. Extra-Curricular Activities
4. Areas of Community Involvement
5. Personal time donated to Charitable/Humanitarian causes

“The PCBA is proud to continue this scholarship opportunity, which recognizes local students who have positively impacted the community,” says Brad Kluesner, the PCBA Community Outreach Chair.  “In previous years, we were impressed at the dedication to community service we saw from applicants. We look forward to honoring the deserving students who receive these scholarships,” shares Kluesner.  Funds for the scholarships are raised throughout the year from PCBA membership, sponsorship, and our annual charity event. 

The Peachtree Corners Business Association is a business networking association for those conducting business in the Metro - Atlanta area, including Peachtree Corners, the largest city in Gwinnett County.  The association provides various programs, events, and opportunities for the enrichment of its members and the surrounding areas.  One of the key initiatives of the PCBA is community outreach.  Focus is given to identify opportunities to support the local community through charitable giving and service.

Althea Lawton-Thompson Entrepreneurship Award

Description

These two (2) $500 awards seek to provide financial assistance to two (2) graduating Gwinnett County High School seniors who demonstrate creativity and business acumen in an existing entrepreneurial endeavor of which they are a founder, partner, officer, or leader.

Qualifications

-must be an ethnic minority (male or female) 

-must be a senior in any public, charter, or private high school located in Gwinnett County, Georgia.

-must submit two (2) testimonials from customers describing their experience with the company or business.

-must be a founder, partner, officer, or leader in the business or company.

2019 Contest Information

Read complete contest information before applying. Please read all requirements carefully. Entries that do not meet ALL requirements will be automatically disqualified from the contest without notification to the student.

Applicant Eligibility Requirements

The Asa Tuten Memorial – GFSA State Scholarship Essay Contest is open to high school seniors in Georgia who plan to further their education at a college/university or certified trade school in the United States. The scholarship is not based on financial need. Relatives of GFSA board members may not enter.

You must be a high school senior during the 2018-2019 school year who will attend a college/university or trade school in the United States starting with the fall 2019 semester.

Home-schooled students may apply as long as your course of study is equivalent to that of a senior in high school.

Essay Requirements

All applicants must submit a text-only (no graphics included) essay between 700-1,000 words addressing the theme specified by the GFSA. Each essay must be an original work written by the applicant and must be accompanied by a bibliography citing all sources of information used. Only entries submitted through to the GFSA email address as stated in the application process are accepted. Only one essay per applicant is allowed.

The Essay Theme for 2019:

Fire Sprinklers – Past, Present, and Future. Discuss the origins of the industry, where we currently stand, and how new and upcoming technology could be incorporated to bring fire sprinklers into the 21st century.

Bibliography Requirements (a.k.a. Works Cited)

The bibliography is the list of sources you used when writing and/or researching your essay. Essays without a bibliography will not be accepted. When citing a source within the essay itself, place the number of the source as it corresponds to your bibliography in brackets ([1], [2], etc.) instead of typing the entire bibliography entry every time.

Contest is limited to first 500 eligible entries received through the GFSA email address.

Entries will be accepted from February 1, 2019 until 11:59 p.m. (EST), March 18, 2019.  Late arrivals will not be accepted.

Judging Criteria

Members of the automatic fire sprinkler industry, including those in the educational and professional/installation fields, judge entries. Essays are judged in four areas, and particular consideration is given to how well the essay addresses the specified contest theme:

Accuracy
Creativity/Originality
Spelling/Grammar/Punctuation

Prizes

A total of $3,250 is awarded to three winners.

First place national winner receives a scholarship of $1,500.

Second place national winner receives a scholarship of $1,000.

Third place winner receives a scholarship of $750.

The scholarship is paid directly to the educational institution in the student’s account.

Winner Notification

Winners of the scholarships will be notified through their high schools via email.  All entries must have a functioning email address for an administrator within their high school.

All winners are required to provide a recommendation letter from a teacher/guidance counselor/mentor other than a parent upon notification of his/her prize. If a student does not provide a recommendation letter within the time frame given, he/she forfeits the prize. All information provided by the student is subject to verification by the GFSA.

Winners’ names and essays will be posted on the GFSA web site in April 2019.

Application Process

Applications will only be accepted online via the GFSA email address. Student must provide all information requested to be able to submit his/her entry.

Step 1: Read all contest information. You must agree that you have read the information and understand it before you can proceed to submit your essay. Entries that do not meet ALL requirements will be automatically disqualified from the contest without notification to the student.

Step 2: Type your essay and bibliography in any word processing program and save it as a text-only document.

Note: Do not include your name or address in the body of the essay. All special formatting/characters such as indents, italics, underlines etc. will be eliminated when the document is saved as text-only. Punctuation characters such as commas, quotation marks, etc. stay the same.
