Applying for a scholarship
Write an essay about why attending college and your field of study are important to you. Give us some insight into your personal background, your philosophy about learning, why you chose your field in particular, and any other information you feel is relevant. These will be judged based on originality, creativity, organization of thought, and proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar.

Awards Available
The grand prize is a $500 scholarship. Two $100 scholarships will also be awarded to honorable mention entries.

This scholarship applies toward the fall semester. It is not meant to cover theexpenses of summer classes.

These scholarships will be granted through our contest annually.

Submission Requirements

• Essay length should be 300 words minimum
• Proof that you have a 3.0 GPA or higher
• For homeshoolers: provide a parent-generated transcript
• Clear contact information (name, mailing address, preferred means of contact)
• A few sentences about yourself and a recent photo of yourself which will be used for publicity purposes on the Goedeker's Home Life blog
• Proof that you are enrolled in an accredited college for the spring 2014 semester OR proof that you have been accepted at an accredited college for the fall semester

The David Skinner/Georgia Development Authority 2014 Scholarship

Purpose:

• To recognize and assist deserving and outstanding young people who are pusuing a college degree in agriculture or a related field.
• To promote leadership development within the agricultural sector.
• To encourage students to appreciate the values and opportunities of rural life.

Award: Scholarships will be awarded to the top students who confirm they are majoring in agriculture or a related field.

Scholarships in the amount of $1,500.00 will be awarded annually to deserving Georgia rural students enrolled in the study of Agriculture or an Agriculture related field. Consideration for the scholarship will be based "80%" on financial need.

Eligibility:

• The applicant must be a high school senior or not beyond the freshman year in college. He/She must have successfully passed their high school academic requirements having SAT scores qualifying their admission to an accredited Georgia college. Applicants must be Georgia residents and live in a rural county.
• Each applicant must supply a copy of his/her high school transcripts and SAT scores and, if applicable, college grades and credits, and a copy of their completed Federal Student Aid Form. Applications received without a copy of the completed FSA Form (do not send your SAR) will be disqualified. Do not send your original application here. We will not forward these forms and that could result in your receiving NO Federal Student Aid.
• It will be the applicant's responsibility to see that the application is fully completed and that all information submitted is totally truthful. Any part of the application not completed will disqualify that applicant.
• Each application must be accompanied by three letters of recommendation: One from the applicant's County Extension Agent or Vocational Education teacher; one from a high school/college teacher; and one from a community leader other than a family member.
• A formal school photo should be attached to the application.
• Deadline for entering will be strictly adhered to.

College Scholarship Writing Contest

$1,000.00 Scholarship

Interested srudents can write a brief essay with the winner being selected from the essays submitted. This is a merit scholarship and is available to all students attending accredited institutions of higher learning. Entries must be submitted on or before July 1, 2014.

2014 Phi Gamma Delta Toward Excellence Scholarship

This $1,000, $500, and $250 scholarship is available to any male attending Mississippi State University in the fall of 2014 and is currently a high school senior. The applicant is under no obligation to join any organization to be eligible for consideration.

All materials are due by May 30th 2014.

2014 Percy Julian High School Award

The Minority Affairs Committee of the Georgia Local Section of the American Chemical Society is pleased to announce the 2014 Percy Julian Award. This award will be given to two High School Seniors (one male and one female) in recognition of scholastic achievement and leadership ability. Each recipient will receive a $250 book scholarship and a one-year (student) membership in ACS.

Qualifications are as follows:

1. The Percy Julian award is open to African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, and members of other groups who are traditionally under-represented in science.
2. Students applying must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5.
3. Applicants must plan to major in a STEM discipline.
4. Applicants must plan to attend a college or university in the Fall 2014 semester.
5. Applicants must show evidence of leadership skills which promote racial, ethnic, and cultural understanding.

The deadline for application is April 16, 2014. Recipients of the Award will be notified by May 5, 2014. Awards will be presented at the American Chemical Society Georgia Local Section meeting in May.

• Percy Julian Award Application Form (including a one-page career objectives essay and one page cultural understanding essay)
