The Perimeter College Goizueta Foundation Scholarship

The Perimeter College Goizueta Foundation Scholarship at Georgia State’s Perimeter College is made possible by The Goizueta Foundation, established by Roberto C. Goizueta, the late CEO and chairman of the board of directors of The Coca-Cola Company. The scholarship is designed to increase the number of students of Hispanic/Latino heritage who enroll and complete their undergraduate degrees at Georgia State and provide mentors, internships and community service experiences to these students so that they can become the leaders of the future.

Street Angels Scholars

Street Angels Scholars, a non-profit 501(c)(3), was created by Street Angels Motorcycle Club, a group of women dedicated in its efforts to provide for the community an organization which promotes the safety of motorcycling, camaraderie and the patronage of the riding community. We strive to make great contributions to our riding community and to assist those in need. The scholarship effort was initiated in 2008 as another opportunity to give back to the community. We believe that pursuing an education at the post-secondary level is beneficial to the individual, the community and the economy. Because of this belief, we have decided to assist three individuals in their pursuit of higher education by providing educational funding. This year, we will award a total of three awards in the amounts of $1000, $750 and $500.

 Criteria:
• Applicant must be a freshman entering a four-year college or university in 2018- 2019 • Applicant or a relative by blood or marriage must be a licensed motorcycle rider in the state of Georgia • Applicant must be a resident of Georgia
• Applicant must have a minimum grade point average of 2.50 on a 4.00 scale

Words of Comfort Ministries, Inc Scholarship

Words of Comfort Ministries, Inc. is a 501(c) non-profit organization. Through its scholarship fund, WOC provides financial assistance to an outstanding male or female African American student residing in the United States who plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university of their choice within the US. In addition to excelling in the classroom, these individuals are leaders in the community who exemplify the values of volunteerism and service.

WOC recognizes the importance of education in the lives of children and the commitment to serve those less fortunate. We are delighted to provide this year's scholarships in their amount of $1,000 to five high school seniors who reflect these same high standards and has at least a 2.5 GPA. With Agnes Scott College’s Elizabeth Kiss Trailblazer Scholarship, admitted students to the college who meet certain qualifications are eligible for a $25,000 merit-based scholarship, renewable for up to four years of their undergraduate education.

The Peachtree Corners Business Association (PCBA) is excited to announce our sixth annual scholarship opportunity for local graduating high school Seniors who reside in Peachtree Corners, or attend Norcross High School, Wesleyan High School, Paul Duke Stem High School, or Duluth High School, or are a Child of a PCBA Member (in good standing), who demonstrate community spirit and initiative. 

The PCBA will award two $1,000 scholarships to deserving graduating high school seniors.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2018- 2019 Student Scholarship Program.

2019 Contest Information

Read complete contest information before applying. Please read all requirements carefully. Entries that do not meet ALL requirements will be automatically disqualified from the contest without notification to the student.

Applicant Eligibility Requirements

The Asa Tuten Memorial – GFSA State Scholarship Essay Contest is open to high school seniors in Georgia who plan to further their education at a college/university or certified trade school in the United States. The scholarship is not based on financial need. Relatives of GFSA board members may not enter.

You must be a high school senior during the 2018-2019 school year who will attend a college/university or trade school in the United States starting with the fall 2019 semester.

Home-schooled students may apply as long as your course of study is equivalent to that of a senior in high school.

Essay Requirements

All applicants must submit a text-only (no graphics included) essay between 700-1,000 words addressing the theme specified by the GFSA. Each essay must be an original work written by the applicant and must be accompanied by a bibliography citing all sources of information used. Only entries submitted through to the GFSA email address as stated in the application process are accepted. Only one essay per applicant is allowed.

The Essay Theme for 2019:

Fire Sprinklers – Past, Present, and Future. Discuss the origins of the industry, where we currently stand, and how new and upcoming technology could be incorporated to bring fire sprinklers into the 21st century.

Bibliography Requirements (a.k.a. Works Cited)

The bibliography is the list of sources you used when writing and/or researching your essay. Essays without a bibliography will not be accepted. When citing a source within the essay itself, place the number of the source as it corresponds to your bibliography in brackets ([1], [2], etc.) instead of typing the entire bibliography entry every time.

Contest is limited to first 500 eligible entries received through the GFSA email address.

Entries will be accepted from February 1, 2019 until 11:59 p.m. (EST), March 18, 2019.  Late arrivals will not be accepted.

Judging Criteria

Members of the automatic fire sprinkler industry, including those in the educational and professional/installation fields, judge entries. Essays are judged in four areas, and particular consideration is given to how well the essay addresses the specified contest theme:

Prizes

A total of $3,250 is awarded to three winners.

First place national winner receives a scholarship of $1,500.

Second place national winner receives a scholarship of $1,000.

Third place winner receives a scholarship of $750.

The scholarship is paid directly to the educational institution in the student’s account.

Winner Notification

Winners of the scholarships will be notified through their high schools via email.  All entries must have a functioning email address for an administrator within their high school.

All winners are required to provide a recommendation letter from a teacher/guidance counselor/mentor other than a parent upon notification of his/her prize. If a student does not provide a recommendation letter within the time frame given, he/she forfeits the prize. All information provided by the student is subject to verification by the GFSA.

Winners’ names and essays will be posted on the GFSA web site in April 2019.

National Guard Scholarship

This is a "full ride" scholarship (tuition, fee, books, room, and board) and includes a stipend while the students attend college.

Georgia United High School Scholarship Competition

For over 20 years, Georgia United Credit Union has offered an annual high school scholarship to members. Named for the credit union's founder and notable board members, the program offers an opportunity for students to showcase their scholastic achievements and creativity through a video competition.

$27,500 in scholarships are awarded in four opportunities:

Each year we offer high school scholarships for graduating seniors for Gwinnett, Hall, or Forsyth County. Students must each be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college or university. This year we are awarding a $1,000 scholarship each to 5 students. Jayda Dionne Parker Scholarship Fund

The primary purpose of the Jayda Dione Parker Scholarship Fund is to provide financial assistance for college expenses for a deserving student who exemplifies Jayda’s attributes: hard work, benevolence and determination against all odds. This is a $1,000 scholarship of which $500 will be awarded for the fall semester of 2019. The remaining $500 will be awarded in December 2019 for the spring semester of 2020. To be considered for the scholarship for the 2019-2020 academic year, the student must submit: 1) An application form; 2) Documentation of acceptance or enrollment in an accredited college or university; 3) Two Letters of recommendation; one from a teacher and another from a counselor, community leader or other adult who is not a family member; 4) An official academic transcript; and 5) A 500 word essay (750 words max) which describes how the applicant exemplifies Jayda Dionne Parker’s characteristics of hard work, caring and service to others and determination to succeed. The essay must include a statement of a major hurdle which was overcome, a summary of how the applicant was changed by the experience, and an assertion of how overcoming adversity influenced the applicant’s plans for the future. In preparing this essay, applicants are encouraged to visit www.jdpscholar.org to learn about Jayda Dionne Parker’s attributes and to include in their essay a specific statement of how their attributes exemplify Jayda’s character. Litner + Deganian 2019 College Scholarship Program

At Litner + Deganian, we understand the financial burdens associated with obtaining an education beyond high school. We are pleased to offer a $2,500 scholarship award to the winner of our annual scholarship contest. With the creation of this scholarship program, we want to help the next generation of students realize their educational and professional goals.

2019 Scholarship Award – Stop Driving While Distracted Video

One applicant will be awarded a $2,500 scholarship for the 2019 fall semester. To apply for the 2019 Scholarship Program, applicants must submit an original video (no longer than 60 seconds) based on the theme below using the program submission form. Please submit a shared link to your video, uploaded to a cloud based platform (ex: Google Drive or Dropbox). YouTube or Vimeo videos will not be accepted. Please note, video submissions from finalists will be uploaded to the L+D YouTube channel.

Stop Driving While Distracted Video: Georgia now has a hands-free driving law, but every day we still see people with a phone in hand or doing something on their mounted phones. How do we get people to finally stop this dangerous activity? What ideas, tactics, or technologies will keep people from reaching for the phone when they are behind the wheel?

The winner will be announced here on the Litner + Deganian website scholarship page and notified by email by early May. Please note that the winner’s $2,500 scholarship award will be issued directly to a college or university financial aid office.

HACEMOS Scholarship Program

HACEMOS has established a scholarship program to assist children of Hispanic origin and children of active HACEMOS members who plan to continue their education in college. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

HACEMOS is AT&T’s Hispanic/Latino employee resource group with a national presence that is open to all AT&T employees. Our mission reflects in our motto: ¡Juntos hacemos más! Together we do more. The scholarships are provided through the HACEMOS Scholarship Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit organization.

This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, or disability.

Applicants to the HACEMOS Scholarship Program must:

• Be of Hispanic heritage OR be a dependent* child of an active HACEMOS member (Chapter List here), age 25 and under, as of the application deadline.
  *Dependent children are defined as biological, step- or legally adopted children living in the member’s household or primarily supported by the member.
• High school seniors, or graduates who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the United States, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam or any other U.S. territory for the entire 2019-20 academic year.
• Enroll in at least 12 credit hours per semester in coursework leading to a degree.
• Have a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent).
• Award information:
  • HACEMOS will determine the award distribution for each chapter and for the national scholarship award.
  • If selected as a recipient, students attending a two-year institution will receive a $1,500 award. Students attending a four-year institution will receive a $2,500 award.
  • Awards are not renewable, however students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
  • Awards are for undergraduate study only.

  Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • academic record
  • financial need
  • demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • work experience
  • statement of goals and aspirations
  • unusual personal or family circumstances
  • an online recommendation

  Financial need as demonstrated by Scholarship America must be demonstrated for the student to receive an award.

  Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of HACEMOS play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
  Notification
  Applicants will be notified in mid May. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
  Payment of Scholarships
  Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of HACEMOS. Payments made out to the college/university are scheduled to be sent to the recipient in one installment on August 1.
• As part of your application, you must upload the following documents:
  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Unofficial or online transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken
  • Optional: Supplemental Financial Data Form, if applicable. This form is needed only if parents cannot submit data jointly on the electronic application.
  Also as part of your application, one online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf.
  Your application is not complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
